About Save Slot Sunday

Welcome to Save Slot Sunday!

Save Slot Sunday is a personality-driven gaming blog for Steam-first PC players who love simulation, management, and system-heavy games, but are tired of hype-driven reviews, algorithmic recommendation noise, and wasting money on bad installs.

Whether you're looking for deep city-builders, cozy shop sims, intricate automation loops, or hidden indie gems on Steam, this site exists to help you filter through the storefront chaos and find games actually worth your time.

Who’s Behind the Site?

Hi, I’m Eric Marlowe.

I’m a 29-year-old independent game content creator based in Seattle, Washington. Over years of playing, tracking, and writing about simulation and management games, I built this blog around a simple idea: gaming sites should organize messy storefront options into genuine, useful advice.

I don't posture as an industry insider, nor do I pretend every new farming sim is a masterpiece. I'm the friend who has already downloaded the demo, read through the patch notes, compared the mechanics to three similar titles, and can tell you straight up whether a game is worth your weekend.

My taste leans toward systems-rich games with personality:

  • City-Builders & Automation: Where flow and systems matter more than pure visual spectacle.

  • Shop & Farm Sims: Where progression loops feel rewarding rather than like spreadsheet homework.

  • Cult Mechanics & Micro-Tycoons: The weird, deep, system-heavy games that become cult classics six months down the line.

Outside of digital gaming, I live with my long-term partner in Seattle, spend weekends hunting through local thrift stores, read manga, and collect physical PC game editions and boxed releases.

Editorial Philosophy & Voice

"Good management games don’t just waste your time — they teach you how you like to spend it."

Our goal is simple: organized curation with restraint, clarity, and a little dry humor.

  • What we do: Explain exactly who a game is for, compare mechanics across similar titles, flag UI friction early, and respect your time, money, and backlog anxiety.

  • What we don't do: Overhype every new indie release, post fake-neutral reviews without a point of view, or pad articles with generic gaming culture filler.

What You'll Find Here

We break our coverage down into four core content categories:

  1. Save Slot Sunday: Weekend-worthy shortlists, curated comfort picks, and "what should I play next?" recommendations tailored for simulation fans.

  2. Loop Breakdown: Deep dives into core gameplay loops, progression design, pacing, friction points, and what makes a sim deeply satisfying rather than merely busy.

  3. Wishlist Control: Steam Next Fest demo impressions, Early Access sorting, buyer's guides, and anti-hype filters to keep your wishlist under control.

  4. Shelf Life: Personality-focused essays connecting game taste to physical collecting, manga pacing, long-tail favorites, and the emotional side of slow-burn games.
